Established in August, 1987, Argosy Research Inc. has been a research/developing as well as manufacturing oriented company. Owing to our excellent command of technology, we are able to develop products complying with the trendiest trend. This is why Argosy is able to come to today's scale from its very beginning of only NT$3,000,000 capital and 4 staff members. 

From the earliest "Memory Cards" used in laser printers and notebook PCs, Argosy Research has been developing products with the strongest self-motivation to make the best products for users. From 1990, we launched a series of PCMCIA cards and peripherals for notebook PCs, including "Serial Cards", "Game Cards", "LAN Cards", "CD-ROM Drives", "DVD-ROM Drives", "Hard Disk Drives" and "CD-RW Drives". From 1998, Argosy has extended ourselves from PCMCIA to various interface applications from CardBus, to USB1.1, USB2.0, IEEE1394 (FireWire) and CF. The wholeness and variety of products is just what Argosy Research is best at.

Besides their popularity, one of the products - PCMCIA 8X Portable CD-ROM Drive, has out-won 6 international name brands, including SONY in May, 1997 and gotten the "First Class Award" given by the most professional American computer magazine - "Mobile Computing and Communications". As a result, Argosy's development capability has gained the world's identification.

Argosy's products are marketed worldwide as our own brand - "ARGOSY", as well as distributed as OEM or ODM products by companies such as IBM, Toshiba, and HP. Adopted by these well-esteemed giant companies, Argosy's ability is once again confirmed.

Accumulating the successful experiences in Mobile Computing peripherals, Argosy's ability in hardware, software and mechanism integration has become very complete and mature. At the end of 1999, a PDA w/simplified Chinese character designed and developed by Argosy was launched on China market bearing Aurora brand name. Shortly after, another PDA model with camera appeared on the market, too. With these PDA products, Argosy announced the beginning of a new stage, transforming from Mobile Computing peripherals to system products.

Late in the year of 2000, we were fortunate to acquaint with H.K. Culturecom group's vice chairman Mr. Chu Bong Foo who is said to be "Father of Chinese computer" and the inventor of "Tsang-Chieh Chinese character input method". We were fascinated by Mr. Chu's profound, yet essential knowledge toward Chinese computer. Hence, we started devoting to the development of "eBook reader". Starting from nothing more than a CPU and a new kind of static LCD panel, with the very fine and close collaboration of Culturecom engineers, Argosy is able to bring into being - eBook reader's basic model, in merely a month. The fast speed and efficiency was amazing. It wins Argosy the role of "system integrator" in Mr. Chu's team of "eBook reader" development.

To Argosy, eBook reader is not a single product. Over the past 1 year and a half, we've continued the development of EBK card, EBK card programmer, audio eBook reader, bar-code application, pocket camera and eBook reader with wireless transmission. eBook readers with various functions have made the whole eBook system and eBook product family more thorough and extensive in applications.

Argosy's most valuable asset is the developing experience and manufacturing technique cumulative cautiously and conscientiously over the past 15 years. Because of this asset, we have always been able to proceed and achieve with satisfaction in different product fields in the past. With this same precious asset, we expect to design, develop and make more products with best quality and marketability for our customers.
